The Kathmandu Valley is not just home to seven monuments zones inscribed in the World Heritage List of UNESCO,

It is stupefying how the dark and dingy alleys of Patan can lead to a sudden vista of monumental art. This happens pretty much everywhere in Nepal, so to speak. Most times these works of art live in complete oblivion (not considering the obvious tourist attractions), passively waiting to be discovered. Such was the case being guided to Swotha Square in Patan to meet Jitendra G. Shrestha, designer and proprietor of boutique Apartments called Yauta Chhen (west house in Newari). Extremely humble and simplistic in his approach, his is an effort to preserve Newari art and therefore his heritage.
